Community Workshop on the Impacts of Blending on LSST Science

This workshop is an integrated part of LSST2018, on Tuesday through Thursday, August 14 - 16, 2018, and will involve all LSST science collaborations and key LSST DM members. The workshop will focus expertise across the LSST community on assessing our current understanding of blending issues and addressing the following questions:

• What are the figures of merit in quantifying the impacts of blending?
• What tools and data products exist to evaluate these metrics -- e.g., simulations, data sets, software frameworks?
• Which tools and data products are missing?
• What are the requirements on these metrics for different science cases?

Google doc with scribe notes for each session (key findings, next steps, actionable items).

DESC Blending Task Force Presentations: With approval of the individual presenters, we have made available ~20 presentations (slides & videos) given in the past ten months as part of the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration Blending Task Force (BTF) — including presentations related to DM plans for the data release pipeline, the new multi-band deblender (Scarlet), simulation tools developed for understanding impacts of blending, and ideas for new (multiband) techniques or algorithms.
