There’s an App for That: Good UX and How it Helps Complicated Ideas Feel Approachable

Sometimes a task is difficult because you’re given the wrong tools. Sometimes a tool works really well for one person but not at all for another person. And sometimes finishing a task is not as important as finding satisfaction in doing it. In this session we’ll explore some of the core tenets of Rubin EPO’s approach to software development and UX, how they support our mission to engage a broad international audience in science-learning, and what parallels exist in software for learning about science and software for doing science? We will spend part of our time presenting on these subjects, part of our time in group discussion, and finish with a general Q&A about the present and future of Rubin EPO web apps.
