Monday Plenary

3:30 - 4:30pm

A brief welcome by Director for Rubin Construction Željko Ivezić and the directorate will be followed by a few logistics item after which the plenary will dive into providing a construction update.

Construction of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory is steadily approaching completion with operations set to begin in 2024. Soon the integration and testing phase of the full system in Chile will begin. The LSSTCam should ship to Chile early next year. The plenary will also cover the Rubin observing strategy, commissioning preparations and planned educational and public outreach activities. We will highlight the construction progress, and ongoing initiatives.

4:30 - 5:00 pm

LSSTCorp is supporting a cohort of undergraduates to attend the 2022 Rubin PCW.  The students will present their Rubin/LSST-related summer research projects and  PCW attendees will have the opportunity to hear the students briefly pitch their posters at the end of the Rubin Construction plenary session.
