PLENARY: Science Collaboration updates & Lightning Stories
9:00-10:10
The eight LSST Science Collaborations will provide an annual update on their activities in preparation for doing science with the LSST data products and services, the common challenges and uncertainties they face, and an overview of their membership requirements to encourage and welcome new people to join.
10:10-10:30
The collective work of the entire Rubin Observatory team and Science Collaborations is needed for Rubin/LSST to be a success. Lightning Stories are dedicated to celebrating the diverse contributions of team members across Rubin Observatory's geographically distributed team, so that everyone can become familiar with contributing team members that they might otherwise not have a chance to interact with.
This year's Lightning Stories will be presented by:
- Julio Constanzo (DM Chile DevOps)
- Agnés Ferté (SLAC)
- Clare Higgs (Rubin EPO)
- Ryan Lau (Rubin CST)
At the end of this session we'll spend a couple of minutes talking about LEGO!

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) will support Rubin Observatory in its operations phase to carry out the Legacy Survey of Space and Time. They will also provide support for scientific research with the data. During operations, NSF funding is managed by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) under a cooperative agreement with NSF, and DOE funding is managed by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC), under contract by DOE. Rubin Observatory is operated by NSF's National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NOIRLab) and SLAC.
NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science. NSF supports basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.
We are privileged to conduct research on Cerro Pachón in Chile, and acknowledge the Indigenous communities in Chile as the natural protectors of these lands.
