Data representation and accessibility in Rubin/LSST
This session aims to promote the use of alt-text, colorblind-friendly palettes, and the multi-dimensional visualization and sonification of LSST data with the purpose of a more inclusive science communication. This will help to improve accessibility for visually impaired people in the Rubin/LSST community, and can also benefit education and outreach-related activities. The Community Science Team will present their efforts in this regard with respect to documentation and tutorials for Data Preview 0, and the TVS Data Visualizations and Representation subgroup will also present their work and findings. Time will be set aside for an open discussion of related challenges and potential solutions. All are welcome. Please contact the session chairs if you would like to contribute to this session.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) will support Rubin Observatory in its operations phase to carry out the Legacy Survey of Space and Time. They will also provide support for scientific research with the data. During operations, NSF funding is managed by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) under a cooperative agreement with NSF, and DOE funding is managed by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC), under contract by DOE. Rubin Observatory is operated by NSF's National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NOIRLab) and SLAC.
NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science. NSF supports basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.
We are privileged to conduct research on Cerro Pachón in Chile, and acknowledge the Indigenous communities in Chile as the natural protectors of these lands.
