Computational Resources for the LSST
Chairs: Knut Olsen, Sierra Villareal
This session will focus on science use cases for computing resources, including and beyond what will be provided by the Rubin Science Platform (RSP). The contents of this session will be informed by the results of the workshop Supporting Computational Science with Rubin LSST, and feature updates on discussions between LSST Science Collaborations and computing resource providers, such as Independent Data Access Centers (IDACs) and Scientific Processing Centers (SPCs). This session will address how the LSST Science Collaborations should be engaging with the IDAC proposals from groups closely associated with their science, and how computing requests might be processed. We will also discuss the role of the Resource Allocation Committee, and how the Rubin community can plan together for computationally intensive science analyses.
