What is an Unconference? This is open session for which the topics are not pre-planned, but decided on by attendees during the first 2.5 days of the workshop. The topics typically fill gaps in the workshop agenda, take advantage of being co-located to work together on a problem, or enable discussion on an emergent issue. The sessions are typically informal discussions or co-working sessions, not presentations (since they're not preplanned).

How it works: Up until about 15 minutes before the end of lunch on Wednesday, post your topic ideas and vote for others' on the Unconference board (near the registration desk). Topics with the most votes will be assigned to breakout rooms at the end of lunch on Wednesday. Topics and room assignments will be posted on the board, on this page, and announced in the Slack space. Pick any session to attend, and go have fun!

Unconference breakout sessions do not have assigned chairs. There will be a pre-assigned virtual-participant facilitator to make sure the Zoom is activated. Please organize amongst yourselves and identify people in the room to facilitate the discussion. If there is a volunteer note-taker, a summary topic posted in the Rubin Community Forum (in the category for the Rubin Community Workshop 2024) would be awesome, but is not mandatory.

*IDAC = Independent Data Access Centers
**Almanor is the co-working room, please be mindful of other people working in that space. Building 53, 3rd floor, Room 3002. Turn right from the elevator; U-turn from the stairs.
