Project Team Resources: Orientation & Travel

Project Team Resources: Orientation & Travel

As a distributed project with team members in several countries, working at many institutions as well as at the AURA LSST Center, it is vital that we all share a common understanding of LSST policies, standards, practices, and tools. Today's blog posting features two resources to help with that goal.

  1. The Project Office administrative team has developed an Onboarding Presentation to introduce new LSST employees regardless of location to our policies, procedures, and resources. The information found on the LSST Onboarding page is intended to orient you to the LSST workplace culture, policies and procedures, and to acquaint you with the resources and tools available on the project intranet website. The information is kept up to date and should be reviewed by everyone working on the project, new and long-time employees. Please check it out here: https://project.lsst.org/onboarding
  2. The Travel Page has been updated to include information for those Coming to Tucson "for a bit or to stay awhile".  If you are relocating to Tucson or just coming for a meeting, insider information on this page will make the journey easier.  Please contact Travel Coordinator Erin Carlson (edited 4/12/16) with suggestions for other updates to the travel pages you'd find useful.

Financial support for Rubin Observatory comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through Cooperative Support Agreement No. 1202910, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science under Contract No. DE-AC02-76SF00515, and private funding raised by the LSST Corporation. The NSF-funded Rubin Observatory Project Office for construction was established as an operating center under management of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA).  The DOE-funded effort to build the the Rubin Observatory LSST Camera (LSSTCam) is managed by the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC).
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science. NSF supports basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.
NSF and DOE will continue to support Rubin Observatory in its Operations phase. They will also provide support for scientific research with LSST data.
