Goals:
On May 26th 2026 Rubin Observatory released a new set of OpSim https://community.lsst.org/t/release-of-v5-3-simulations/12032 with more realistic estimates of system performance and engeneering time. With LSST soon to start, the Survey Cadence Optimization Committee (SCOC) and Survey Strategy team have scheduled this workshop as soon as feasible as we are eager to connect with the community to ensure the visibility of these simulations and projections of the LSST performance, hear community concerns and suggestions on the modifications of the Survey Strategy, and continue our ongoing science optimization of the strategy on the eve of LSST. This VI SCOC-SC Collaborations workshop will host presentations of the new simulations, discussions of the expected scientific throughputs, and will hear community (preliminary) assessments and concerns. This workshop will set the stage for future discussions with the SCOC, including at the Rubin RCW (Tuesday July 28).
The structure of the workshop is set up as follows: on the first two days (Wednesday and Thursday), we have scheduled presentations from the SCOC, the survey strategy team, and Rubin Observatory, along with discussion time; on the final day (Monday), we want to hear from the community. Time slots for each SC are reserved. Unlike in previous years, due to the rapid scheduling, we do not expect participants to do any preliminary work on the new OpSims. Yet, we want to hear any considerations—whether they are preliminary, formed during the workshop, or driven by analysis conducted between now and the workshop.
A draft schedule is posted, subject to refinements. SC members are invited to contact their SC liaisons (see SCOC webpage) to recommend topics and help refine the workshop content.

- On June 4th the Science Assembly will include presentations of the v5.3 simulations
Registration will be open through June 9th 2026.
