Strategies for Incremental Template Generation in the Early LSST Survey

Alert Production during LSST commissioning and the first year of operations depends on the existence of template images.  These must be built incrementally from images as they are taken during the survey.  Using Rubin cadence simulations, we analyze the tradeoffs between template depth, image quality, spatial coverage, and time of availability.  We consider quantitative approaches to assessing the alert yield from various incremental template generation strategies.  These studies will help maximize time-domain science in the early LSST era.
