Rubin and Satellite Constellations
Many satellite operators are launching low-Earth-orbit "constellations" of hundreds to thousands of satellites, and we are racing toward a future with as many as 100,000 bright satellites visible for large portions of the night during the decade of Rubin LSST operations. In this session, we'll give an overview of the current situation, discuss takeaways from the SATCON2 workshop, and share preliminary resources for dealing with the satellites that will inevitably find their way into data products.
