All sessions are pitched for general (non-technical) community participants, everyone is welcome at all sessions.

Projects such as Galaxy Zoo and Planet Hunters, hosted by the Zooniverse platform, have demonstrated the potential of citizen science for scientific discovery and public engagement. In this session, Zooniverse PI Chris Lintott will review Rubin’s plans for integration of citizen science, and explain how your science can benefit from a crowd two million strong. Using recent work on machine learning in the context of citizen science, Lintott will argue that such projects are still relevant in the deep learning era, and offer significant potential for serendipitous discovery. As such projects are accessible to anyone with a web browser, they offer a chance for the Observatory to reach new audiences and share our exploration of the sky. Rubin staff representatives from the Community Engagement Team and the Education and Public Outreach team will also provide a brief overview of how they will support citizen science programs with LSST data during Rubin Operations. Future Citizen Science coming from Rubin, in particular the Zooniverse. "Lessons learned" from current/past programs. What should scientists think about when incorporating citizen science in their workflow? This session would be providing information for scientists, and is co-organized with the Comunity Engagement Team.
