Galaxies Science Collaboration Meeting
The purpose of this session is for members of the Galaxies Science Collaboration to collectively discuss progress, share ideas, develop a strategy for the future scientific direction of the SC. With commissioning data becoming available around a year from now, this meeting will be crucial for successfully fulfilling the scientific goals that the SC has laid out in its roadmap. We will present and discuss our preparatory work for the LSST science, such as algorithms for accurate sky subtraction that are required for low-surface-brightness science, machine learning methodologies that will be crucial for exploiting LSST's unprecedented data volumes, and the development of high-resolution cosmological simulations that can provide theoretical counterparts to LSST's unique deep-wide surveys. All scientists and students with interest in Galaxies-related science with LSST are encouraged to attend.
