Blazar

Blazars are galaxies that have an extremely bright nucleus surrounding a supermassive black hole.  Highly energetic luminous material is emitted as a jet of high velocity particles in the direction of the viewer.  Blazers are a type of Active Galactic Nuclei, AGN.  LSST observations will make significant contributions to the information we have about these remarkable objects.  Read more at: http://phys.org/news/2011-09-blazars.html#jCp
